2. Why would you use USB versus DNC software?

USB is ideal for local, portable program loading, while DNC provides centralized, network-based transfer and control across multiple machines.

3. Should I replace my floppy disk with a floppy emulator?

SFA floppy emulator are generally plug and play and do not require any changes to the process you use now to load/save programs. The floppy disk emulator will still limit the capacity of the USB stick format of 1.3MB.

4. What makes the USB to serial adapter unique from SFA?

The USB to serial adapter provides a local comm port on your computer. The RS232 serial port is unique for CNCs and requires a specific handshake and communication. The device we supply has been tested with over 50+ brands and sold for 15 years in the field with various controllers and Windows operating system. Reliability and data integrity is key when sending CNC programs.

5. Does SFA offer on-site service and hardware support as well?

Yes. In addition to software integration, Shop Floor Automations provides services that include on-site support for hardware installation (such as adding USB ports to the CNC)

We added the USB ports to our somewhat seasoned machines. The installation went smooth, as it’s a simple and straightforward process. The actual product itself is user friendly and works great. I highly recommend it. I was hesitant at first because I tried in the past to use other brand’s aftermarket ports - with NO success. They were complicated and ended up not being used at all. These from SFA are awesome!
