Predator Grizzly Cable™ Features
Predator Grizzly Cables
High quality, application specific cable is an essential component in any reliable shop floor communications network. For those of you who may have had the misfortune of restringing thousands of feet of cable to combat noise and data transmission problems, Predator has you covered. Predator did one better than co-develop the most reliable and powerful RS232 cable available world wide, they put together a system that provides customers with an entire cable solution. No longer will your maintenance department have to run around trying to find a replacement cable in an emergency. You won't have to worry about properly terminating new cable ends to match your controllers RS232 pin outs.
Grizzly Cable™ and the entire Grizzly Cable System™ allow you to purchase, from one source, components to meet your every shop floor cabling need. Grizzly Cables™ are proudly manufactured to Predator's own specifications in the USA.
Predator Software has designed the easiest to use, color-coded cabling system with the highest quality cable and connectors.
| Grizzly Cables are designed for both RS-232 and RS-422, DB25 and RJ-45 Connectors. Additionally, each cable includes one (1) Grizzly PC Connector™ connector and one (1) machine specific Grizzly CNC Adapter™ for the CNC of your choice. |

Concerned about extended distances?
Predator Grizzly Cable is engineered to an ultra low 15.5 PF per foot capacitance. In addition, each of the four pairs are twisted and a separate drain wire is hand soldered and grounded. This allows RS-232 cable lengths to safely go up to 500 feet, even with very fast baud rates. RS-422 cable lengths can go up to 2000 feet.
Hate to solder, crimp and terminate cables?
Predator Grizzly Cables are automatically terminated with a RJ45 connector with a color-coded stress relief boot. This eliminates the need to solder, crimp and terminate both ends of every cable.
Included with every cable is a CNC adapter with a DB25 or DB9 connector with the appropriate wiring. CNC adapters snap on in a few seconds vs. 10 minutes of soldering, crimping and terminating each end. Refer to included list of sample CNC controls and adapters for more information. Just specify the CNC control with every cable order and we will include the correct CNC adapter. Additional CNC adapters can be ordered for only $10 USD per adapter. Eliminate potential downtime by having your maintenance department stock a few extra CNC adapters.
Need to make CNC machine moves or changes?
Predator Grizzly Cables simplify CNC machine moves and eliminate re-stringing new cable and re-terminating existing cable ends. With Predator Grizzly Cables, simply disconnect the Grizzly cable from the CNC adapter, move the CNC machine with the CNC adapter, and plug in the closest Grizzly cable drop. This flexibility protects your Grizzly cable investment as you sell old machines and purchase new CNC machines.
Concerned about stringing cables?
Every Predator Grizzly Cable includes instructions, which details the best way to string cables. In addition, recommendations on what to avoid are also included. Predator Grizzly cables are so rugged that up to 54 pounds of pulling tension can be applied during the stringing process. In addition, they are extremely flexible with a bend radius of 2.4 inches. Finally, the pre-terminated RJ45 connectors are small enough that they can be threaded through walls and most conduit as needed.
What about shielding?
Predator Grizzly Cables have four layers of shielding. First, each wire is individually shielded with a polypropylene jacket. Second, an aluminum foil wraps around all of the pairs. Third, a metal braid shield is wrapped around the foil. Finally a thick but flexible PVC jacket is wrapped around the metal braid. The quality and strength of the shielding included with Predator Grizzly cables protect your data from RF noise and electrical interferences
Is it certified?
Predator Grizzly Cables are flame resistant, CE certified, UL type CM and UL 1581
Will it work?
We guarantee it; every Predator Grizzly Cable includes a 5-year warranty. Thousands of manufacturers rely on Predator Grizzly cable every day. Over twenty thousand CNC machines and other shop floor devices have been connected. Predator Grizzly Cables were designed for harsh manufacturing environments and have the strength and flexibility to handle almost any application.

Can our maintenance personnel install Predator Grizzly Cable?
Yes. Maintenance personnel can install Predator Grizzly Cables. We do provide several cable stringing recommendations to insure reliable error-free operation.
NOTE: This cabling is NOT ETHERNET (Cat5 or Cat5e). SFA will not support any system using ETHERNET Cabling from a PC Comm port or Serial Hardware to the CNC Machine RS232 Port. Ethernet cabling is unreliable when used for RS232 cabling and un-shielded and typically a twisted pair cable designed for use between PC to PC.
We strongly recommend with every order part #RSTEST. This tester plugs inline with the CNC machine's or PC's port to determine which port is active as well as if activity is on the CNC RS-232 port.
